Project Qurbani

YOUR QURBANI-EMPOWERING IMAMS AND
COMMUNITIES

The Imam Development Program launched Project Qurbani in 2021 and has designed the project to benefit some of the most vulnerable communities in Africa through the hands of an Imam. As an organisation whose primary focus is the upliftment and empowerment of Imams, we take great pride in being able to deliver a unique Qurbani experience aimed at strengthening the position of the Imam. Ultimately, creating a stronger link between the Imam, the Masjid committee, and the communities they serve.

Qurbani Performed Across 13 African Countries

You can empower an Imam and his community through your Qurbani, facilitated by Imams in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, and Lesotho.

The Process

1

Source your Qurbani

One of our vetted Imams works with his local farmer to source your Qurbani. This helps promote the local economy in their village

2

Oversee the Qurbani

On the blessed day of Eid Ul-Adha, the Imam together with the chief and local committee oversee the Qurbani

3

Distribute the meat

The Imam along with his team of volunteers distribute the meat to their local community. This further elevated the position of the local Imam.

4

Enrich the Community

And of course, your Qurbani for the year has been completed and has deeply enriched the Imam and his community.

TESTIMONIALS

I said “This is meat.”
She asked again “What?”
And I repeat, “meat”
She said, “It has been so long, I have even forgotten it's taste.”

“This is the first time goats are being slaughtered at our own Masjid. It’s about 20 years now and to me it was like a miracle to hear that.”

Each Qurbani Team is made up of the Imam, 3 Masjid Committee members and the Local Chief as a minimum.

By charging the Imam with the task of purchasing, slaughter and distribution of the animal, his reputation in the village will be enhanced.

The last day of Eid.

We guarantee that all the animals will be slaughtered on the days of Eid. Beyond that if you require specific personal notification, then please drop us an email at qurbani@imamdp.org to arrange.

Imams will have a voucher ticket system in place to hand out to members of his community. Each voucher holder will receive 1 meat parcel.

Due to the number of Qurbanis that will be done it isn’t possible to do this. Also, it is not necessary according to the Shariah to pronounce the name of the person intended/donor. The intention of the donor suffices.

IDP is wholly responsible for ensuring that this Amanah is rightly upheld. From the Imam and his Qurbani team to Sh Bilal Ismail and the IDP Team.

The day and time of slaughter is dependant on the country where the animal is being slaughtered according to the Shariah and not the country of the donor.
